Experience a new way to play. Wii from Nintendo.

The new Nintendo Wii looks really sweet. I think I’m going to have to buy one just so I can play Zelda. For all of you out there. My favorite game ever made was Legend of Zelda: Orcarina of Time for Nintendo 64. It’s ranked the second best game of all time. The first was Final Fantasy 7.

GMAN: FlickrDown

GMAN: FlickrDown

GMAN has provided a free and useful tool to help you download Flickr Photos at once. Why might you say is this important. Example, if I ever decide to not use my Flickr account anymore and not renew my “Pro” subscription all of the photos that I uploaded onto Flickr while having my “Pro” account will disappear. Don’t freak, if I renew my subscription they will appear to me again however, that locks me into being a Flickr member the rest of my life. With this app, I can choose to move my photos somewhere else if I feel that Flickr is no longer worth the $30 a year, which right now it very much is. Good job Flickr, and thank you for providing the API that makes this program possible.

Got Zen?

Got Zen?

Probably the most beautiful place in the whole world. I stumbled upon this photo and it took my breath away. I wish I knew where this place was so that I could visit it. I wonder who built it? How long it took them? How many times it was used. Truly Amazing.

Roosevelt on Immigration

I received this in an email and thought it was interesting considering I just moved out of California…

“Theodore Roosevelt’s ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who
comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us,
he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an
outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or
birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in
every facet an American, and nothing but an American…There can be no
divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something
else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the
American flag… We have room for but one language here, and that is the
English language… and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a
loyalty to the American people.”

-Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Thank you Kara for this quote.

Can We Trust the iTunes Rating System?

I recently received an email from a friend who told me something interesting concerning iTunes’ review system. It seems as if iTunes is censoring reviews. However, not in the way that you would think. Larry, my friend, shared with me that he posted a review on the the show “Coming Out.” He told me that the show had 2 positive reviews posted and that he wrote a negative review with 1 star. (Note: This negative review was on the show specifically, there was no “Gay bashing.”) The next day, Larry checked the reviews out of curiosity. He noted that there were 20 or more negative reviews following him. A week passes and Larry decides to check the reviews again, but is shocked to see that all of the negative reviews had been wiped, leaving only positive. However, iTunes’ censorship was not thorough enough. There were people commenting on the amount of negative reviews.

Now you might say. “Big deal, the reviews are gone, but the rating still stands right?” Wrong. The shows rating, in stars, had gone up from when the negative reviews were present. Unfortunately he was not expecting this to have happened so we do not have a screenshot of the negative reviews, but we do have a screenshot of positive reviews commenting on the abundance of negative reviews. Notice the below:

Now, it would seem that iTunes is in fact “rigging” their own rating system.
