TVShows

TVShows automatically downloads your favorite tv shows. All you have to do is subscribe to the shows you watch and it will automatically get the torrent files and open up your preferred bittorrent client. I have just now installed it and it’s working perfectly. This is probably one of the best tools I have come across in a long time.

The Caffeine Database is a list of drinks that will tell you how much caffeine you are or have consumed. Really funny. I knew there was a Cocaine Energy drink.

Kane Hula

Kane meaning man/male. Hula is the dance. Hula for guys sounds sissy but it really isn’t it. I actually want to start taking hula lessons after this summer. Here are a couple of examples of some Male Hula Dancers at the annual Merry Monarch competition on the Big Island.

This one is really cool too but it takes a couple of minutes to get into it:

iPod saves Soldier’s Life on Flickr

Ipod saves Soldier’s Life on Flickr

The back of the Ipod.

Photos sent to me by my friend Danny with this caption:

My wife’s uncle works in a military hospital and told me about this. Its pretty amazing. Kevin Garrad (3rd Infantry Division) was on a street patrol in Iraq (Tikrit I believe) and as he rounded the corner of a building an armed (AK-47) insurgent came from the other side.

The two of them were within just a few feet of each other when they opened fire. The insurgent was killed and Kevin was hit in the left chest where his IPod was in his jacket pocket. It slowed the bullet down enough that it did not completely penetrate his body armor. Fortunately, Kevin suffered no wound.

I thought it was a great story so I posted them here.

UPDATE 04.05.07:
I just got an email via flickr from an engineer at Apple. He showed the photos around the office and want to help get the guy a new iPod. So it’s looking good that it will be replaced.

Scuba Diving without Air Tanks

IsraCast: Scuba diving without air tanks

An Israeli Inventor has developed a breathing apparatus that will allow breathing underwater without the assistance of compressed air tanks. This new invention will use the relatively small amounts of air that already exist in water to supply oxygen to both scuba divers and submarines. The invention has already captured the interest of most major diving manufacturers as well as the Israeli Navy.

Samsung Announces 64 GB Solid State Drive

Wow, not long ago was the 32GB solid state drive announced now Samsung Announces a 64 GB Solid State Drive. What is a solid state drive? Well…think of it like a huge memory stick. It doesn’t need to spin up and it and doesn’t really take much time to pull and put information onto it.
Also, they are MUCH lighter then normal hard drives. This is the future of laptops and portable computers. Can anyone say Maclight?

How to Improve WiFi Connectivity

I worked for Netgear and I probably should have typed something like this, meh. I just didn’t feel like doing it.
Compliments of wijie90 on digg:

1. Position your wireless router (or wireless access point) in a central location.
2. Move the router off the floor and away from walls and metal objects (such as metal file cabinets).
3. Replace your router’s antenna.
4. Replace your computer’s wireless network adapter.
5. Add a wireless repeater. (or more, if you need them)
6. Change your wireless channel.
7. Reduce wireless interference. (get cordless phones that don’t use the 2.4 Ghz frequency range)
8. Update your firmware or your network adapter driver.
9. Pick equipment from a single vendor.
10. Upgrade 802.11b devices to 802.11g.
