Beachwalks.tv Episode #580 - Featured Guest…. ME!

Today, I had the great opportunity to hang out with Roxanne, Shane, and the most adorable dog in the world Lex! So cute! I went to take some photos and just hang out for a little bit and ended up having such an awesome time. Roxanne and Shane are really quality people and I’m glad that there are people like them in the online tech. community. They helped me out by doing a quick brainstorming session with me and giving me some helpful advice that I’m definitely going to take and run with it. Sometimes with business it is not such a good idea to be a ‘nice guy.’ Nice guys finish last, and that’s not just with dating but with business :-)

The other really neat thing that happened was I announced my website to the world! :-) It’s the first time that I mentioned to anybody about my site Philipsonphotography.com. I ‘premiered’ it on Beachwalks.tv! Pretty cool eh?

Beach Walk 580 - Preserve Beach Access Hawaii

I think I sound/look like a retard but I think that’s everyones opinion of themselves when they see their own face and hear their own voice. Anyways, check their site out, check my site out. Leave a comment. :-)

Very cool…You’re famous now. :-)

I’m a fan of Beach Walks with Rox.

Oh…you might want to check your link to your photography site…I just clicked on it and got a 404. I tried it twice.

Xapa

nice guys don’t always finish last, you just need to stop dating controlling girls.

Eric

Cool! Hey it looks like you got the ep. number wrong though.

Joe Philipson

@Eric Thanks for telling me. That was actually from the embed code that I got from them…

Shane Robinson

Aloha Friday, Joe!

Thanks for the kind words and making the trip “over the Pali” to hang out. Would be fun to talk about photography over coffee some day. I don’t know much about it but I really like your “from the hip” style of shooting.

In terms of “nice guys finish last” stuff. I def think nice guys can and more often finish first, and have better relationships along the way. What I was trying to say, in regard to your new business, is to not worry about what other people think or what they may or may not steal from you in terms of ideas.

Remember the main point we talked about: Put your ideas and energy out there and become a Thought Leader in your space. If you’re the first one to demo a product or service, or provide info that is helpful to people, your competitors will only be able to play “catch up.” Put it out there first. As much as you can. Then you’ll become known for being “that guy” and people want to work with and hire “that guy.”

:-)
