Apple Store in Waikiki

I was so happy when I first found out that there was going to be a brand new Apple store opening up on the strip in Waikiki and even more happy when I moved into town. Now that I live in town I am a literal 5 minute bike ride from the Apple store. I’m ecstatic about this store.

I live streamed the event and you can find the videos and photos below:

Here the priest blesses the opening of the Apple Store, this tradition is common in Hawaii.

In line waiting for the store to open:

Photography.Alltop.com

Alltop.com is a website that aggregates all of the "Top" websites on specific topics from all around the web.

If you check out Photography.alltop.com

I’m there now… Pretty cool eh? I can’t believe that I share the same page as Flickr, Strobist, Digital Photography School, etc. I’m truly flattered. Thanks Neenz!

Check it for yourself.

So, because alltop.com requires an RSS feed I have created a wordpress blog for Philipson Photography. http://philipsonphotography.wordpress.com – I’m using the monotone theme that Matt Mullenweg debuted for us Hawaii peeps not too long ago.

As my photography slowly drifts from being a hobby and into more of a career so will Philipson Photography become it’s own entity. I won’t be blogging so much about photography on Inside Joe’s Head. Instead photography stuff will go to PhilipsonPhotography.wordpress.com

Another pretty cool thing is you can actually become a fan of Philipson Photography on Facebook now. Below is the link so fan up!

Today was a busy day… last day of school. I’m pretty zonked so I’m going to bed.

How to Improve WiFi Connectivity

I worked for Netgear and I probably should have typed something like this, meh. I just didn’t feel like doing it.
Compliments of wijie90 on digg:

1. Position your wireless router (or wireless access point) in a central location.
2. Move the router off the floor and away from walls and metal objects (such as metal file cabinets).
3. Replace your router’s antenna.
4. Replace your computer’s wireless network adapter.
5. Add a wireless repeater. (or more, if you need them)
6. Change your wireless channel.
7. Reduce wireless interference. (get cordless phones that don’t use the 2.4 Ghz frequency range)
8. Update your firmware or your network adapter driver.
9. Pick equipment from a single vendor.
10. Upgrade 802.11b devices to 802.11g.

News Story regarding the PriceRitePhoto and Digg

Media Post has a story detailing the past 48 hours since Thomas Hawk posted his experience with PriceRitePhoto on his blog. They interviewed both Thomas Hawk and a manager at PriceRitePhoto. They indicate this has cost them “millions of dollars” and that they plan “legal action.” More legal threats, eh?

More power to the people and by people I mean consumers!

Alive Chimpanzee

Sharper Image is selling

* Amazing “Alive” Chimpanzee is a fully animated, life-size bust of the real animal.
* “Alive” Chimpanzee can see, hear and feel in ways that allow him to interact intelligently with you, your family, your guests…and with baffled strangers.
* Soulful eyes track movements using infrared “radar” vision; his ears have stereoscopic sound sensors; his skin reacts to contact with touch sensors all around.
* Four distinctive emotional moods include “Curious,” “Happy,” “Fearful” and “Feisty.”
* Override his “natural” autonomous mode by using the wireless controller to communicate specific commands as far as 30 feet away.
* A Sharper Image worldwide exclusive.

It’s price tag is $119.96. I can see myself doing some really serious pranks with this thing. Check out the demonstration video. It’s pretty impressive, I would expect something like this to be more expensive than it is.

Got a Cold? Stay away from NyQuil/DayQuil

Vicks changed the formulation of their popular NyQuil and DayQuil products, removing the active ingredient pseudoephedrine due to its use in making crystal meth. The new active ingredient does nothing for nasal congestion, and the entire product is less effective. Check the labels before buying your usual cold product to avoid “surprises”.

Ever get the feeling the people at Blockbuster are calling you an idiot?

Unsurprisingly, the managers at Blockbuster really do call you an idiot behind your back, and possibly even in their computer system. For an added bonus, sometimes they’ll even print it on your receipt for all to share.

Camping

I can not wait ’till I get off work. I will be parking my posterior with Will Fowler and Breanna Talsma, and we will be camping outside of Best Buy for that Toshiba laptop that’s going on sale. I am just going to have fun, I’ll take a bunch of pictures and document the event. This is the first time I am doing anything like this. I figured I am 21-years-old and still haven’t done something like this and that it was about time. Well, Gotta go get in line. PEACE!
